Blue

Blue is my second nude self portrait.

Painting it was a distraction while selling my house and to practice looking at myself.

Leaving the house in which I lived for nearly 15 years was difficult but necessary. I struggled with Blue while waiting to move. My face refused to form. It was frustrating in the moment but an echo of what was going on in my life. After settling into my new home, the face emerged from beneath my brush as if to confirm I had made the right decision to move on.

Blue bridges my old life of raising my children and my new one of finding myself.
