On August 25th we got excellent news that my husband would not need to have part of his colon removed. His doctor was confident that he would because the growth in his colon looked like cancer. She showed us the image of it and it did look horrible and large extending well into the passage of his colon. I'm surprised it didn't cause a blockage. However, when he had his recheck colonoscopy before they scheduled surgery it was gone. The doctor was shocked. She said she doubled checked to make sure she had the right spot and asked for the input of the other health professionals in the room. It turned out to be a rare mass-forming ischemic colitis. It mimics cancer and people have had parts of their colon removed unnecessarily because it looks so much like cancer. Luckily his doctor doubled checked before doing surgery.
